Christensen Farms is one of the largest, family-owned pork producers in the United States, marketing approximately 3 million hogs per year. The company is vertically integrated with a strong presence across the pork value chain from farm to fork. Christensen Farms is the largest shareholder of Triumph Foods LLC, a producer-owned primary pork processing plant in St. Joseph, Missouri. In turn, Triumph Foods members own 50 percent of Daily's Premium Meats, a specialty pork processor of bacon and other premium pork products.  Triumph Foods also holds a 50 percent partnership in Seaboard Triumph Foods, LLC of Sioux City, Iowa, a primary pork processing plant.

Position Overview & Responsibilities:

The Talent Management and Planning Manager is responsible for the development and execution of training and development programs, performance management and succession planning.  This leader is also responsible for ensuring full and appropriate utilization of team members time and talents across the organization. Their focus will be developing programs and process to support managers in their turnover, retention and labor hours metrics for the organization. This involves thoroughly understanding business needs and priorities and translating these into practical programs and processes. It also involves managing and supporting a series of enterprise-wide initiatives, championing talent development and movement across the organization that will continue to enable an aligned and integrated organization. This person will be a proactive leader of the Human Resources team and contribute to the strategic direction of the talent management within CF.

Major Areas of Accountability:

  • Assess organizational needs and assist in the development and execution of a leadership development strategy and programs that are closely aligned to the organization's mission, strategy, and goals and includes a curriculum tailored for all levels of supervision.
  • Provide organizational change management, training and development support for implementation of processes, programs and technology by the HR team and business leaders.
  • Develop and implement robust succession planning processes to assess the short and long-term organizational health and talent depth of each of the departments.
  • Participate in industry, technical and professional organizations, and local colleges and universities to enhance and coordinate industry specific training programs.
  • Provides leadership and coaching to managers and professional staff for employee relations, performance management and leadership development.
  • Provide leadership and support for time management & payroll.
  • Participates in other HR activities, including committees and other special projects as assigned

Education, Training, and Experience Requirements:

  • Education: Professional, two or four-year degree, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of HR Business Partner experience, preferably with understanding of full HR talent management process, including performance management, training and development, succession planning and payroll.
  • Knowledge of best practices within learning and development and employee relations
  • LMS development and utilization
  • Industry Trends/Market Dynamics and drivers of employee engagement
  • Skilled in problem solving and conflict resolution
  • Ability to effectively influence at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to facilitate to ensure learning & transfer of knowledge
  • Other Technical Skills required: Basic understanding of Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • PHR or SPHR certification is preferred but not required
