Christensen Farms is one of the largest, family-owned pork producers in the United States, marketing approximately 3 million hogs per year. Christensen Farms is the largest shareholder of Triumph Foods LLC, a producer-owned primary pork processing plant in St. Joseph, Missouri. In turn, Triumph Foods members own 50 percent of Daily's Premium Meats, a specialty pork processor of bacon and other premium pork products.  Triumph Foods also holds a 50 percent partnership in Seaboard Triumph Foods, LLC of Sioux City, Iowa, a primary pork processing plant.

Position Overview & Responsibilities                       

In this important role in Sleepy Eye, MN, the Operations Training Manager is responsible for creating and maintaining partnerships with Production Leaders within Christensen Farms on the development and execution of training programs to support management growth in our core business.  This position must develop deep relationships with both Production and the HR organizations to establish a training curriculum designed to increase business capability, develop future leaders and enhance overall employee performance.

Major Areas of Accountability

  • Production Staff Training (Sows & NGF) 

    • Develop curriculum for staff entry level training (utilize videos, established content, external seminars, etc. to make a robust training program for our staff)
      • Breeding 101
      • Farrowing 101
      • Introduction to Gilt management
    • Breeding & Farrowing Lead Development Programs
      • Training plans (technical)
        • Breeding Barn Management
        • Farrowing House Management
        • Isolation & Gilt Development practices
      • Ongoing training
        • Supplemental ongoing training (Genetics, biosecurity, environmental, asset, etc.)
      • Intro to Planning & Organizing
      • Scheduling
    • Interdepartmental on farm training programs (OBC, Agronomy, Site Care, Repair Programs, Safety, etc.)

    Farm Management (Sow Farm Managers, Production Managers) 

    • Develop, maintain & coordinate new Farm Manager curriculum utilizing existing and developing new content to develop up & coming managers internal and external to CF
      • Technical in the field program developed, implemented & monitored
      • Introduction to Management development
        • Role of the Manager
        • Train the trainer
        • Implementing change
        • Creating a motivational environment
      • Develop ongoing training for existing Farm Managers utilizing internal and external content
        • Management development
        • Technical content to further promote productivity & health

    Service & Flow Managers 

    • Coordinate training on business acumen and departmental functions to serve as training on expanded roles and ongoing initiatives to promote holistic viewpoints on inputs required to make best decisions organizationally
    • Working with VP, determine venues of external development opportunities to broaden skillsets of existing Service & Flow Managers
    • Work in coordination with HR to promote Org Development Initiatives


  • 6+ years of Sow Production experience with large scale staff supervision. Excellent communication skills.
  • Previous experience in creating and presenting training materials.
  • Requires an individual that has outstanding detail and organizational ability.
